Erin's Second Baby Shower

The Thornburg side threw Erin a second baby shower in Syracuse.  We make the trek up north for a fun weekend in the 'Cuse.
Charlotte didn't think the trip up was so fun.  We really believed she would sleep during the trip.  I don't know what we were thinking.

Tommy had a great trip though! Movies and games, who could ask for anything more?

It rained before we got there but once we headed to the beach, it was sunny and beautiful! Perfect day for the beach.

That belly.  It doesn't get any better than that.

Tommy loved the lake except for any water that would get on his head.  We really need to look into swim lessons!

We went to dinner with Gaga and Pop that night.  After dinner, it was play time.  The kids were having a crazy rowdy super fun time with pillows and jumping and whatever else they could think of.  So much fun to be had!
However, Charlotte had a hard time going to sleep that night.  She screamed for an hour and a half for no reason.  They both ended up finally falling asleep at 10 and both woke up at about 7:30 am.  We knew they would be tired.

But it didn't matter because the next day it was time for the beach again!

It was sand and some sun and lots of fun!

Charlotte's favorite part was throwing sand.

 Tommy's favorite part was swimming!

After swimming and before the shower, they need to rinse off that sand.

We went to the shower and the kids had an instant friend to play with.  You might remember her from all these times Tommy and Addi played together.

They finally started showing their sleepiness near the end of the shower.  Hugs were needed.

Erin's shower was great.  Food was awesome.  She got some great gifts too! We took some family pictures after the shower.  Check out the siblings!

Tried to get one picture with the kids and this is what happened.  I still laugh every time I look at this picture.

It took about 10 minutes of the ride home and the kids were asleep.

It was a long weekend.  They were exhausted. Also very cute.

Charlotte was still tired when we got home.  She laid around all night with her hand in her pocket.

We had a great weekend in the 'Cuse on the beach.  We'll be back for more lake time in August! Can't wait!

Fashionista Charlotte

Charlotte loves to pick out her own outfits.
She's pretty good at it too.  Yes, that is a Captain America mask.  Yes, that is the top half of the tankini. Yes, that is a bottom half of a one piece.  And yes, that is a unicorn tail.

Did I mention she also makes a pretty good hipster?

40th Anniversary Summer Theater- Mary Poppins

Renssy has an awesome summer theater program that was put into place with an endowment.  Fourth through eighth graders participate every summer and put on a great show.  The adults help up until the night of the shows and then it's all up to the kids backstage.  Twenty years ago, my seventh grade class along with 4th through 8th graders put on Peter Pan.  They brought in a flying company and it was downright awesome, in our humble opinion.  This year for the 40th anniversary, they brought in a flying company again to perform Mary Poppins.  We had to check it out!

 The auditorium was packed!

Tommy was ready for the big show but looked like he was planning to go to Hollywood himself.

Here are some clips from the show.  So cool! Flying definitely adds a certain amount of magic, that's for sure!

The show was super cute.  The broadway version of Mary Poppins is way different than the Disney version.  Tommy enjoyed it, especially the scene with the stars.  Very magical.  His favorite part was supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.  He had to have his picture taken with the girl with the pink hair who sang the song.  When she came up to get her picture with us, she said to me, "You were in Peter Pan with my Aunt Millie."  Small world! I knew exactly who she was when she said that.  Too funny!

The next day there was an alumni event.  Tiger Lilly, Wendy, Peter Pan and our director Pat got our picture taken together.

After the event, Tiger Lilly, Peter Pan and Wendy went to the bar to play "Who has the weirdest mom stuff in their purse?"  I hope I won by having an apple in mine but we all had very equally odd things.

It was a great weekend with lots of fun memories shared.  I can't believe it's been 20 years.

4th of July Pool Time 2015

We had no plans for the 4th of July and we were so excited to do nothing!

We got an inflatable pool for the kids and boy, were they excited!

They immediately started in on the tricks with their slide.

I don't know how many times I heard "My turn!! My turn!!"  Or when Charlotte says it, it sounds more like "My tuhn! My tuhn!!!"

They had so much fun! It was really cold water and the weather wasn't that nice out but they didn't care!!

Charlotte took a break every once in awhile to imitate Tommy. Ha!

Her face going down the slide was hilarious!

Tommy was a sliding fool too!

We finally convinced the kids to take a break and go see a movie. We saw Inside Out. It was really good. It was all about what happens in the brain during childhood and adolescence. Very brilliantly done.  Tommy did awesome.  Charlotte actually did really well too for her first movie.  She got a little antsy but never had to be removed from the theater.  Yay for Charlotte and yay for us for learning from our last experience.

After the movie, we stopped by Target. Charlotte refused to leave until she got this Elsa doll. Already?? Are you kidding me? But it plays Let It Go.  I hoped they would be over that song by now.  They. Are. Not.  Charlotte won that round and now it's her new favorite thing in the whole wide world.

Then we set off some fireworks. Tommy liked them. Charlotte was terrified.

I don't know why she was terrified. They don't look very menacing to me. :)

If you would like a glimpse into their water world, here's a fun video.

How fun is the counting at the end? Plus the whoas? Oh my goodness.

Busy Little Saturday

First up, I drove down to Zionsville for Erin's baby shower. She got a lot of great stuff but the best thing was probably this below.

Hope the baby likes Peyton as much as much as his/her mom!!

After that I drove to the south side of Indy to celebrate baby Dean turning two! Andrew and the kids met me there. Charlotte hung out with her buddy bubba Reese. I think Charlotte has a mouth full of food here.

It was a very typical birthday party due to the mass chaos during the present opening. So funny. I'm pretty sure Jack has nothing on under that Superhero costume. Too funny!

Tommy enjoyed Dean's presents!

Dean loved his birthday cake!!

The kids loved playing in the bounce house (until the big kids came down).

After that, I drove all the way up to Renssy for our very informal high school reunion. No one had planned anything so Sarah posted on Facebook that we should meet at the pub if anyone was in town. We had about as big of a turn out as the 10 year reunion.

Not even 10% and only one guy showed up but we didn't care! We still had a great time! We got a picture pretending to be courthouse critters.

We had to get the courthouse in the background too! Good times!

Crazy Saturday but lots of fun!
